Cunningham

SPRINGFIELD – After the Illinois Senate approved the Fiscal Year 2025 budget, State Senator Bill Cunningham, a Democrat who represents portions of Chicago and the Southwest Suburbs, released the following statement in response:

“My primary focus throughout the budget process was simple: no tax increases on the middle class. Not only was that goal accomplished, but we were also able to fully fund our education system and avoid cuts to programs that help our neighbors in need.

“After fully funding our pension obligations and receiving nine credit upgrades in the last few years, we’ve shown once again that we are responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

“With the passage of this year’s budget, I feel optimistic about the future of our state and our local economy.”
